Trip Ideas Near Shilshole Bay Marina

Madison Bay

Directly across Puget Sound and located about 5 nautical miles NorthWest of Shilshole Bay Marina is Madison Bay. It typically takes about an hour to cross Puget Sound which is usually a reach or close reach when sailing. While crossing the Sound, keep a lookout for large container ships, cruise ships, and other traffic. You may even spot a sea lion or small porpoises!

There is no place to “stop” per se, but you drop sails and enjoy the scenery while having a picnic lunch of wine and cheese.

Kingston Marina

Kingston Marina is located about 9.2 nautical miles from Shilshole Bay Marina which will typically take about 2 1/2 hours each way (depending on the wind and current of course). It’s a great place to have a picnic at the marina park or have lunch, coffee, or ice cream steps away from the marina.

Eagle Harbor

Eagle Harbor is a great little marina on Bainbridge Island directly across the Sound from Seattle. It’s about 7.0 nautical miles from Shilshole Bay Marina and has an easy self-service kiosk for transient moorage. It’s an easy walk to nearby restaurants and shopping. Allow about 2 1/2 hours each way from Shilshole (depending on wind and current).

Poulsbo Marina

Located about 13.2 nautical miles from Shilshole Bay Marina is Poulsbo Marina where a friendly spacious marina and quant town await. Allow about 3 1/2 hours each way from Shilshole (depending on wind and current). Poulsbo is great overnight destination!
